ABSTRACT

Objective The study aims to investigate the effects of different adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction-V( ASiR-V) and convolution kernel parameters on stability of CT auto-segmentation which is based on deep learning. Method Twenty patients who have received pelvic radiotherapy were selected and different reconstruction parameters were used to establish CT images dataset. Then structures including three soft tissue organs (bladder, bowelbag, small intestine) and five bone organs (left and right femoral head, left and right femur, pelvic) were segmented automatically by deep learning neural network. Performance was evaluated by dice similarity coefficient( DSC) and Hausdorff distance, using filter back projection(FBP) as the reference. Results Auto-segmentation of deep learning is greatly affected by ASIR-V, but less affected by convolution kernel, especially in soft tissues. Conclusion The stability of auto-segmentation is affected by parameter selection of reconstruction algorithm. In practical application, it is necessary to find a balance between image quality and segmentation quality, or improve segmentation network to enhance the stability of auto-segmentation.

ABSTRACT

Oral cancer is a common and deadly malignancy. While multidisciplinary treatment(mainly surgery)has been applied in the treatment of cancer treatment, early diagnosis and complete removal of the primary lesion are essential for a better prognosis.Raman spectroscopy is an optical technique that detects inelastic scattered light generated by the interaction of light and matter. It can detect the vibrational spectra of biochemical and biomolecular structures and tissue conformations, and can provide the "molecular fingerprint" for cells, tissues, and biological fluids. With the development of related technologies and optical instruments,Raman spectroscopy has been widely applied in medical fields. This article reviews the research advances and application of Raman spectroscopy in the diagnosis of oral cancer.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of one-stage intravascular interventional treatment for intracranial multiple aneurysms. Methods:From January 1, 2010 to January 1, 2018, the data of patients with multiple intracranial aneurysm undergoing one-stage endovascular embolization in the Department of Nerurosurgery, Puning People's Hospital, Guangdong Province were analyzed retrospectively. The clinical and angiographic findings at discharge and follow-up were evaluated. Results:A total of 16 patients with multiple intracranial aneurysms received one-stage endovascular treatment were enrolled. Among them, 10 were females and 6 were males; their age was 49.5±17.2 years; 5 patients were subarachnoid hemorrhage caused by rupture of intracranial aneurysms, three of them were classified as grade Ⅰ and two were classified as grade Ⅱ by the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS). There are a total of 35 aneurysms, 13 patients had 2 intracranial aneurysms, and 3 had 3 intracranial aneurysms. There were 3 posterior circulation aneurysms and 32 anterior circulation aneurysms; the mean diameter of the aneurysms was 6.9±3.3 mm. Fifteen aneurysms were only treated with coil embolization, and 20 aneurysms were treated with stent-assisted coil embolization. No treatment-related complications occurred. Thirteen patients were followed up for a total of 17.7±6.4 months (range, 6-28 months). The modified Rankin Scale score of 12 patients was 0 and 1 was 6 (died of rebleeding). The imaging follow-up data of 23 aneurysms in 10 patients were obtained. They were followed up for 10.2±3.3 months (range, 6-15 months), 20 aneurysms did not recur and 3 (3/23, 13.0%) recurred.Conclusions:One-stage endovascular embolization is a safe and effective treatment for multiple intracranial aneurysms, and its long-term outcome should be further evaluated.

ABSTRACT

Setting Li Dai Zhong Yao Pao Zhi Zi Liao Ji Yao as clue, this article searched each edition of China Pharmacopoeia, National Processing Standard of Traditional Chinese Medicine issued in 1988, and relevant materials of local processing standards and modern processing study, and concluded and combed the contents about Asari Radix et Rhizoma processing in ancient and modern literature. There are records about Asari Radix et Rhizoma processing methods in history, including net processing, cutting processing, heating processing and processing excipient. However, Asari Radix et Rhizoma processing methods in modern time are relatively simple. In addition to the version of the Processing Standard of Traditional Chinese Medicines in Shanghai issued in 2008, containing the honey Asari Radix et Rhizoma, other editions of China Pharmacopoeia and processing standards only recorded net processing and cutting processing. Recent research showed that processing methods of modern stir frying processing, alkali processing, wine processing, low temperature ultrafine comminution processing and so on, can effectively reduce the toxicity of Asari Radix et Rhizoma and enhance the safety of clinical application. This article summarized the history and research progress of Asari Radix et Rhizoma processing, and provided a reference for the study on modern processing.

ABSTRACT

Aim To investigate the changes of serum metabolism after the treatment of DOA and DOO on myocardial ischemia reperfusion ( MI/R ) injury in rats, and to explore the pathogenesis of MI/R injury and drug action mechanism. Method The serum samples of Sham group, Model group, DOA group and DOO group of rats were acquired, gas phase time of flight mass spectrometry ( GC-TOF-MS) was applied to analyze the metabolic profiles of the samples. After da-ta preprocessing, they were processed into SIMCA 14. 1 software for multivariate statistical analysis. Results By principal components analysis ( PCA ) , partial least squares analysis ( PLS-DA) and orthogonal partial least squares analysis ( OPLS-DA ) , the Model group and Sham group were obviously separated, the drug in-tervention group and Model group were separated and close to Sham group. The therapeutic effect of DOO and DOA on MI/R injury in rats was proved. The ex-perimental results identified 13 endogenous biomark-ers, which were related to the glucose metabolism, lipid metabolism and amino acid metabolism pathway. Con-clusion DOA and DOO may protect the MI/R injured rats by regulating the glucose metabolism, lipid metab-olism and amino acid metabolism pathway.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study CT numbers correction of kilo?voltage cone?beam CT (KV?CBCT) images for dose calculation. Method Aligning the CBCT images with plan CT images, then obtain the background scatter by subtracting CT images from CBCT images. The background scatter is then processed by low?pass filter. The final CBCT images are acquired by subtracting the background scatter from the raw CBCT. KV?CBCT images of Catphan600 phantom and four patients with pelvic tumors were obtained with the linac?integrated CBCT system. The CBCT images were modified to correct the CT numbers. Finally, compare HU numbers between corrected CBCT and planning CT by paired T test. Evaluate the image quality and accuracy of dose calculation of the modified CBCT images. Results The proposed method reduces the artifacts of CBCT images significantly. The differences of CT numbers were 232 HU, 89 HU, 29 HU and 66 HU for air, fat, muscle and femoral head between CT and CBCT respectively (P= 0?? 39,0?? 66,0?? 59,1).The differences of CT numbers between CT and CBCT was reduced to within 5 HU. And the error of dose calculation with corrected CBCT images was within 2%. Conclusions The CT numbers of corrected CBCT are similar with plan CT images and dose calculations based on the modified CBCT show good agreement with plan CT.

ABSTRACT

Objectives:To observe the changes of the tongues in rats with blood-stasis syndrome induced mainly by cold. To explore the evidence that tongues were the target of blood stasis syndrome and the target of medication. Methods: Rats with blood-stasis syndrome induced by cold (BSC group) were dipped into ice water (0 ℃) for 5 minutes every day and lasted 20d individually. Different drugs were given orally after the model establishment. And then we took photos of tongues of all rats by digital camera, analyzed the gray scale value of all rats' tongues using image analysis software, and observed the capillaries in tongues by electron microscope. Results: The tongues of rats which had been frozen in ice water for 20 d (once a day) were dark purple, the same as that of models induced by chemical materials .While as for the normal rats, the tongues were lustrous and ruddy. The changes of color of the tongues persisted about 1 week and were great obvious at the 3rd day after the model establishment among different time-points. After given different drugs, the degree of dark purple tongue degraded, showed significant difference (P < 0.01) from that of model rats. The capillary stegnosis and nucleus turgescence of vascular endothelial cell were observed in tongues in BSC group by using electron microscope. After medication, the above changes recovered. Conclusion: The degree of dark purple tongue indicates the degree of diseases with blood-stasis syndrome. The tongue probably is a target of drug treatment.
